There has been a lot of speculation regarding Mitch Levy and his future in broadcasting, at least in the Seattle area. Americans have a short-term memory and high tolerance for some rather bad behavior. Back in 1997, nationally-known sportscaster Marv Albert was charged with forcible sodomy and assault of a longtime female acquaintance. And, Albert’s name turns up in the black book of murdered 58-year-old dominatrix Mistress Hilda. Naughty, nasty stuff. His career after… He was let go from his NBC NFL reporting duties.
A few months later, Albert was hired by MSG, Madison Square Garden network (now known as HBO) – from there, he was hired by TNT. NBC later brought him back. In 2005, Albert officially became the lead play-by-play man for the New Jersey Nets franchise and started calling their games on the YES Network. On June 6, 2011, it was announced that Albert was joining CBS Sports to call play-by-play for The NFL on CBS. His career barely took a hit and his voice-over credits in TV cartoon shows and sitcom appearances have only added to his fortune.
Prostitution is the oldest profession. No Asian whores were harmed or even slightly involved in the police sting that brought Mitch Levy down. For a misdemeanor crime, Levy should remain at KJR, a gig he has held for the better part of 20 years. He should have made an on-air apology, sat out a 2 or 3 week suspension from KJR and then… all is forgiven, though not forgotten.
