Phil Roger on One Hit Wonders

Wondering where all this comes from…
Some are directly from memory recall, others re-discovered with help from YouTube, but there is another source. If you have time on your weekend, check out the Sounds of the 60s on BBC Radio 2. It airs live Friday at 10pm – midnight (6a-8a London) You can listen by podcast anytime.

The host is an authentic former pirate dj, Tony Blackburn from Radio Caroline and Radio London. So lots of music history with each song. One day he mentioned a former shipmate Tommy Vance. Also check out the program jingles. Very familiar.

BBC Radio also has Sounds of the 70s with another pirate dj Johnny Walker. That’s where I heard Resurrection Shuffle.

So enjoy

Phil

From 1968, this song peaked at 19 on the KJR Fab 50 on October 22. Look closely at the person on the lower left. Lead vocals, songwriter and later game show host.
