Being a fan of music in general, I’ve enjoyed scanning these old Surveys posted by Mike Cherry. They’re amazing memory joggers for recalling old tunes I haven’t thought of in years … AND discovering songs I don’t recall “ever” hearing. This particular survey is from November 1970. I would have been playing Country Music, at the time, at KBFW-Bellingham, so my attention wouldn’t have been necessarily on Pop Hits. Anyway, the #6 hit on this survey by Mark Lindsay (lead singer of Paul Revere and the Raiders), “Grass Won’t Pay No Mind” was completely unfamiliar to me. After a little research, I discovered it was obviously a memorable tune for everyone but me. It was written by Neil Diamond and was also recorded by Elvis Presley and (of course) Mr. Diamond. • Here’s a version by each of them:

√ Neil – https://youtu.be/defDA1XUoYE
Elvis and Neil recorded & released a number of different versions of this song.

My goodness, there was aot of great music in November 1979!
Good song. However, I don’t have any memory of it either and I was listening to the radio nearly 24/7!
