Lost Treasures: Robert Gordon & Link Wray – “Red Hot”

Lost Treasures this week rewinds to 1977 for this single on Private Stock Records.  Rockabilly revivalist Robert Gordon released his first single – a cover of Billy Lee Riley’s late 50’s scorcher which also leads off his first album.  Gordon enlisted 50’s/60’s guitar heavyweight Link Wray giving the track some serious authenticity & a truly gritty feel to the song.  Both the single & Robert’s albums made little headway in an era dominated by disco & the burgeoning punk scene in the UK & he faded away as quickly as he appeared.  Lost Treasures fans should keep tuning in as Link Wray will get his due in the spotlight in a week to come.  Enjoy a sunny spring weekend & thanks for your support from your friends at Puget Sound Media!
