Lost Treasures: The Heptones – “Party Time”

Memorial Day weekend is here & that means it’s “Party Time”!  This week’s treasure is by Jamaican reggae group The Heptones who recorded & released this Caribbean #1 single for iconic producer Lee “Scratch” Perry in 1976 on Perry’s Black Ark label.  Presented is a rare, promo-only copy of an extended mix of this record.  The Heptones were one of Jamaica’s favorite vocal groups in the 60’s & 70’s & their soaring 3-part harmonies put them at the top of charts with each release.  When the group split in the 80’s, lead singer Leroy Sibbles moved to Toronto, Ontario & continued on with a successful solo career.  Enjoy your holiday weekend & thanks for making Puget Sound Media a part of your day!
