From 1956, we present an EP single track from the great Fats Domino. “Swanee River Hop” is a somewhat traditional tune from New Orleans days of rowdy brothels & bars, now cleaned up & gentrified as the ‘French Quarter’. Collaborating with influential Crescent City musician & producer Dave Bartholemew, this is a rare instrumental track from Fats that showcases his incredible piano playing. A rollicking “barrelhouse” arrangement, one is reminded of both Professor Longhair & the recently passed Dr John/Mac Rebenack when listening & you can almost smell the smoke & booze from one of New Orleans bars. Enjoy your weekend & thanks for making Puget Sound Media a part of your day!
