Lost Treasures: Santana – “Fried Neck Bones & Some Home Fries”

This week Lost Treasures celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music & Art Fair in upstate New York.  Although this track did not appear on the original release of the soundtrack, it has now been released on Rhino Records new 38 CD, 432 track release covering the entire festival performances.  The new set contains 267 previously unreleased tracks including this gem from Santana which has been part of their repertoire since the band’s inception.  “Fried Neck Bones & Some Home Fries” is a cover of a well-done Latin tune recorded by such notables as Cal Tjader, Cuban artist Chucho Valdes & Les McCann among others.  On a personal note, I intended to drive my van to New York to attend the festival & had a ticket (shown below) but my vehicle developed a serious engine problem & the engine was dismantled at the time of the festival, so no roadtrip for me!  Have a great weekend from your friends at Puget Sound Media.
