Lost Northwest Treasures: Charlie Ryan & The Timberline Riders – “Side Car Cycle”

Our Lost Treasures this week was released in 1960 on 4-Star Records by dual-hit wonders Charlie Ryan & The Timberline Riders.  “Side Car Cycle”  is Charlie’s follow-up to “Hot Rod Lincoln”.  Ryan was born in Minnesota, grew up in Polson MT & moved to Spokane in 1943 where he remained throughout his life.  After a stint in the US Army serving in Korea, Charlie Ryan toured with Jim Reeves & Johnny Horton among others.  After minor success with his 1955 hit “Hot Rod Lincoln” he toured extensively on the west coast including the Pacific Northwest where he appeared on a few local radio shows on KVI & KRSC.  After “Side Car Cycle” only made a minor dent in the country charts, he gave up as a musician. Charlie Ryan passed away in Spokane in 2008.  Kick off your weekend enjoying this Northwest classic!
