Born In Berlin, Horst Jankowski studied at the Berlin Music Conservatory & played in jazz groups in Germany in the 1950’s.  Although he had numerous easy listening & jazz singles that were popular in Europe, his only international hit was 1965’s “Eine Schwarzwaldfahrt” released in English as “A Walk In The Black Forest” on Mercury Records.  With the proliferation of easy listening/beautiful music formatted FM stations coming on air in the US & Canada, his albums became popular with programmers & the listening public.  In the 1970’s he returned to a more jazz based sound on his recordings for the next few decades.  In the 1990’s Horst cut a few easy listening albums for Germany’s Sonoton Records before passing away in 1998 at age 62 from lung cancer.  Enjoy this easy listening classic as we embark on a fall weekend here in the Pacific Northwest & thanks for making Puget Sound Media a part of your day!
