HBO Now subscribers & Hackers can continue to stream on Amazon

Amazon and WarnerMedia have struck a new temporary agreement that will allow HBO Now customers to continue streaming on Fire TV while the companies continue negotiations over HBO Max. — THEVERGE.COM

Meanwhile, in the hacker’s lair- Astute, computer-savvy cable cutters know that the old restrictions applied by cable TV companies can be lifted with a few mouse clicks and an Amazon Firestick for your TV. (PugetSoundMedia does not condone “jailbreaking”) There are youtube videos about the procedure, along with the usual “unboxing” videos about new FireStick devices.

What is Firestick TV? Firestick is a dongle you plug into your existing TV. Firestick is virtually, a smart tv for $40.

Though nothing is FREE, it seems in the cordless world of streaming TV, new devices will be hacked as soon as they are out-of-the-box. This makes HBO, STARZ, Cinemax, and other streamers, available without subscription fees. The same thing that cable tv hackers did to cable boxes, happens today with online services.

The procedures require adding a Virtual Private Network to your wifi connection. A how-to on HOWTOGEEK.COM explains, A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, allows you to create a secure connection to another network over the Internet. VPNs can be used to access region-restricted websites, shield your browsing activity from prying eyes on public Wi-Fi, and more.

What Is a VPN and How Does It Help Me?
In very simple terms, a VPN connects your PC, smartphone, or tablet to another computer (called a server) somewhere on the internet, and allows you to browse the internet using that computer’s internet connection. So if that server is in a different country, it will appear as if you are coming from that country, and you can potentially access things that you couldn’t normally.

So, if you build it, the hackers will find a way to steal it. Unlimited movies, Pay-per-view, MLB/NFL channels. No longer must you stretch a cable across your lawn to the neighbor’s house.

Some are bold enough to sell a jailbroken device online:

Once a person has decided to cut the cable cord, they have, more than likely, already set up a few streaming service memberships. When bundled together, these are a fraction of the cost of a monthly cable bill. The Amazon Firestick brings those services to you through one hand-held remote. Why own a Firestick? One other perk: Firestick devices come from the manufacturer already loaded with enough FREE streaming choices to satisfy most viewers, legally.
