KISW Circles Back To Review 50 Years In Rock

KISW is throwing themselves a 50th Anniversary Party starting February 12th. This 50th Anniversary Weekend kicks off a year-long 50th anniversary celebration with special programming celebrating with stories and memories from the station’s alumni, local civic, sports and business leaders, as well as bands and artists from both Seattle and around the world. KISW flipped from Classical to Album Rock on February 14, 1971. Weekend guests will include bands Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Greta Van Fleet, Heart, Alice In Chains, Disturbed, Judas Priest, athletes from Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, Kraken and Sounders​, singer-songwriter Sammy Hagar, and actors Joel McHale and Rainn Wilson​.

  1. I remember my brother coming into my room saying “KISW’s playing rock!” We listened for a while. Later that night I tuned back in and they were playing classical. Next morning they were back to rock for good.

Long time listener for 10 years or the station and all the people who have made this station what it has been over the years.thanks to all the listners for giving this station the all the people over the years to the bands who need us rock alcoholics we need each other.I feel this is the special bond we all share in the history of living in Seattle thanks for the local rock bands who made your mark in history you know who you are.big Shout out to you all for the great concerts.keep rocking on thanks for all the people on the station for all the laughs over the years.keep up the great work.thanks for all your hard work.
