The New KPLZ In HD, Another Reason To Buy An MP3 Player

NWBroadcasters is reporting that KPLZ 101.5 FM has added HD to their signal. This will allow extra channels of KPLZ in order to program diverse formats. Of course, listeners will want at least one channel worth listening to.

Bender Cunningham, morning host at KJR FM, has lost his hero, his father, veteran network talent, Dick Cunningham. Mr. Cunningham passed away earlier this week. Dick Cunningham worked for WPLJ/ New York, WHDH/Boston and the ABC & NBC networks. Dick Cunningham followed that by founding Broadcast Productions, Inc., specializing in video and voiceover production. (AllAccess.com)

    1. Right. Radio stations will have to integrate into one web-delivered aggregator, hands-free, voice-controlled. One that delivers everything from Pandora, Spotify, itunes, radio and your personal playlist.

      1. I’ve had a free web-delivered aggregator called the World Wide Web, hands-free and voice-controlled in my car, and anywhere else on earth I might be, since I bought a smart phone about ten years ago.

I just say “Hey Google, open this or play that” and get audio and video from everywhere on earth and out in space, and at no charge. I watch free streaming Amazon, HBO and Netflix programming from all over the world, in HD and with subtitles, the same day or before those sites debut them officially.

Lately, I’ve watched recent movies such as The Unforgivable, 1883, Nomadland, Coda, Don’t Look Up, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, The Life Ahead, Yellow Rose etc., plus many older classics from Sweden, France, Italy.

It’s like AM and shortwave DXing when I was a kid, free then, free now.

Another interesting thing to Google is problems and defects in car infotainment control systems.

        1. The movies are available without subtitles, but that requires an app you download to a dongle attached to your smart tv, like FireStick. There are Youtube videos explaining the download process. Then all the movies you want to see can be streamed at no cost to you. Plus, all the tv shows from HBO, Showtime, all the networks and cable channels.

        2. As for an aggregator, I am envisioning ONE app to handle all of it, whether on your cell phone or a small device on your dashboard. At this time, voice commands to Siri or Alexa will not open ALL individual apps, some hands-on fumbling while driving is still required. There will come a time when it is all more easily accessible.
And maybe someday Siri will loosen up and be a little less uptight when she hears rather suggestive requests. These days Siri seems to be on the #metoo bandwagon.
